I have tiny red bumps on my pubic area. How to treat it?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi,

My pubic area has folliculitis. It looks like a skin infection. At first, it may look like small red-headed pimples around hair follicles.

Please suggest something.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

More information would be required to diagnose and treat correctly.

1. Please let me know your clinical history, including diabetes mellitus, immunocompromised status, or existing infections.

2. Is it only in the pubic area or any other place in the body?

3. Do you have any constitutional symptoms such as fever, body ache, urinary burning, loose motions, or others?

I have these suggestions for you

1. You must go for blood investigations like complete blood count (CBC), C-reactive protein (CRP), and diabetic profile, like fasting blood sugar and postprandial blood sugar.

2. Apply Bactroban (Mupirocin) cream twice daily locally. Apply after bath or cleaning with soap water.

Please revert to discuss further.

Thank you.
