Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have had a slight lump or bump in the area of my pubic hair, about 1 cm away from the base of my penis. What is it and what shall I do?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Usually, bumps appear in the pubic area due to infection of the hair follicles in the area (pubic hair folliculitis). This is very common and is not so dangerous. In some cases we need to administer antibiotics otherwise most of the cases heal on their own. Applying hot or cold sponges would be helpful. I would suggest you to please spare some time to upload a picture of the affected area for better understanding. Also, tell me, are you sexually active or not? If active, have you had unprotected sex with any partner in the recent days or so?

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
