How to manage a baby who refuses advanced formula feed?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My baby is one and a half years old, and taking formula milk. Now we changed to stage two of the same brand, but he is not drinking it. I think it is a problem in swallowing the formula feed. What to do? Can I change the milk to one that suits him? Please advise.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to Icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Your child, who is around 18 months old, is formula-fed through a bottle and nipple. But now he has a problem accepting the same. Since you are giving formula feed, you always have a choice to shift to other formula feed available from different brands. However, you should encourage your child to accept milk from a glass now, as it is the right time to stop bottle feeding. Next, I would suggest you switch over to dairy milk, if it is acceptable to the child. Another important thing is to focus on complementary feed now, that is providing adequate nutrition in the form of cereals, pulses, vegetables, fruits, and various protein sources. All in a palatable form.

I hope this information will help you. Please revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.
