Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I had lower back pain for two years, for which I underwent an MRI scan. The report showed prolapse in L2 to L4 region. Then I had a TLIF (transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion) from L2 to L5 spine surgery a month back. The surgery was successful. Before surgery, I had frequent urination problems and sometimes pain in my pelvic and testicle area. I am facing the same problem even after surgery. So I wanted to have a consultation regarding this problem with a urologist. I have attached the lumbar spine surgery and urine test report. I have not taken an ultrasound, CT, or MRI scan and am not under any medications for my urinary problem.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Spine problems are one of the causes of urine frequency, and sometimes problems can persist even after surgery. I further wanted to know whether your urine problem is just due to the spine or any other issue that needs to be diagnosed. For that, I would suggest some tests, which include sonography of the abdomen and pelvis with post-void residual and a urodynamic study. These tests detect bladder pressure and find the cause of urine frequency.
Once the cause has been diagnosed, then proper treatment can be planned. Your problem of pain in the testes and pelvis can be due to a prostatic infection called prostatitis. These problems can be detected by physical examination by a urologist, and anti-inflammatory drugs and antibiotics are needed for that. So I would advise you to visit a urologist near you, discuss the above test, and plan your treatment ahead.
I hope this helps.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
Since I have to travel 200 km to find a urologist, I am facing trouble traveling because of back surgery, but I will visit the urologist after a few months. As of now, can you prescribe any medicine? Thank you once again.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Unfortunately, providing a prescription is not available in this mode of consult. If possible, visit any physician or surgeon near you, and they will prescribe medication for temporary control of urine.
I hope this helps.
