Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 21 years old. I have frontal hair loss and I can see my hair thinning at temples. I am using Minoxidil 5% at present. Can I know how to control hair thinning?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Increase protein intake in your diet like nuts, milk, almonds, pulses, lentils, eggs, and dates. Take tablet H.Vit forte once in a day for 30 days. Continue using Minoxidil 5 percent lotion 1 ml at night for 30 days. Avoid stress, rough handling of hairs, hairstyles, coloring hairs, and cosmetics. Did you have any procedures on the hair in the past? Eat healthy and nutritious food. Stay hydrated. Sleep well and exercise regularly. Is there a bald patch or spot? Receding hairline? Itchy, flaky scalp? Scaling? Dandruff? Inflammatory red lesion on the scalp?

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Are Minoxidil and tablets only for 30 days? Because I have been using it for many days. No coloring or cosmetics applied to hair. No bald spot, but I can see receding hairline and I cannot see any other effects.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

It depends how your hair responds to the treatment. It slows hair loss and grows new hair. Adverse effects can happen if long term use but are negligible. It is androgenic alopecia (male pattern baldness). In this condition, there is a shortening of the hair growth cycle and delay in new hair growth. Causes of hair loss are hormonal imbalance, injury, insufficient protein intake, iron deficiency, hairstyle, hair procedure coloring, and rough handling. Telogen effluvium (hair follicle go to resting phase for three months) and grows normally then after. Use Nizoral shampoo twice weekly for four weeks. Topical Spironolactone can be used. You can go to laser therapy (low-level laser therapy) to stimulate the growth of hair follicles. Eat oranges, avocado, carrot, yogurt, sweet potato, spinach, (vitamin A, folate, iron), green leafy veggies, eggs, chicken, salmon, Biotin, onion, eggs, nuts, and Zinc-fortified cereals. Drink a lot of water. Drink green tea. No caffeine, tea, and soda. Eliminate stress. Stop smoking if smoking. Scalp massage with Alovera gel, and onion juice extract.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
