How can the spot on the breast be treated?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I want to send a picture of a red spot that has been present on my breast for five weeks, but I do not know how to attach it. I also have a sore under my arm with a small lump in the center that is hot, red, and dark in colour.

Please suggest.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and can understand your concern.

With your descriptions, you have developed furuncles. Boils, called furuncles, are deep bacterial infections of hair follicles, caused by Staphylococcus aureus. They are most commonly carried in the nostrils, armpits, legs, and the cleft between the buttocks. They can be transferred to other parts of the body through the fingernails from colonized areas like the nostrils.

If you are overweight,

  1. Try to reduce your weight; take regular exercise.

  2. Follow a balanced, healthy diet with meat, plenty of fruits, and vegetables.

  3. Avoid smoking.

  4. Wash your whole body once a day with soap or cleanser and water.

  5. Wash your hands several times daily or use antiseptic hand rubs.

  6. Do not share your towel with other family members.

  7. Maintain a clean handkerchief and do not pick your nose.

  8. Change your underclothes and night attire regularly.

  9. Try to avoid activities that cause sweating and friction from clothing, such as squash and jogging.

  10. If you are iron-deficient, taking a course of iron tablets may help reduce infection.

  11. Get your blood sugar done.

  12. Take oral antibiotics like tablet Augmentin 625 mg (Amoxicillin and Clavulanic acid) (if you are not allergic to the Penicillin group), one tablet three times a day for five days, and topical Mupirocin ointment twice daily for five days.

All medicine should be taken after consulting your GP (general practitioner) or a nearby dermatologist. Have a review if your problem persists.

I hope this answers your query.

Let me know if I need to assist you further.

Thank you.
