How to manage gastric ulcer?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have stomach pain, burping, indigestion, nausea, headache. One year ago same symptoms were there, and the doctor told me it was a gastric ulcer. What should I do?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

I am very sorry about your medical condition and I am glad that you are paying attention to changes in your body system. But do not worry. I am here to take care of you.

Regarding your symptoms, I strongly believe, you have developed acute indigestion with possible acute gastroesophageal reflux disease, where most of the recent food tends to return to the chest and is not able to digest and absorb. Of course, peptic ulcer is a factor that can also prompt such indigestion.

I advise you to do the following things. These include:

  1. Syrup Gaviscon (antacid) 20 ml to be taken orally, thrice a day for two weeks.

  2. Tablet Omeprazole (proton pump inhibitor) 40mg to be taken orally, twice a day for one week.

Kindly consult a specialist doctor, talk with them, and take medications with their consent.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
