What could be the cause of red lumps in my throat with tickly cough and a sore throat?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have red lumps in my throat. I have had a dry tickly cough for the past few days and a sore throat as well. I recently fall sick. What could it be?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern.

It seems to be a granular pharyngitis. Before suggesting treatment, we need to know the cause. It is commonly caused by acid reflux, chronic sinusitis, and rhinorrhea. Initially, antacid medicine like Rabeprazole 20 mg should be taken once daily before breakfast. You can also have warm saline gargles for sore throat. Also, you need to avoid very cold drinks, spicy food, smoking, and alcohol. Avoid heavy meals and take multiple small meals instead. Do some walking after meals rather than rest immediately. If you have rhinorrhea, then the treatment is needed. Lastly, laser surgery is done to remove those lumps if they do not resolve.

Kindly consult a specialist doctor, talk with them, and take medicines with their concern.

I hope this has helped you.

Thanks and regards.
