Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 21-year-old female. I have extreme hair loss. It has been more than a year now. Earlier, I had beautiful long hair, but now all my hair has become very thin. Literally, thousands of hair strands fall from my hair every day, especially on the day I shampoo it. When I run my hand through my hair, I see lots of hair in bunches. I am very upset.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
There are many reasons for hair fall or thinning of hair on the scalp. So first and foremost, we have to find the cause with the help of a detailed history and examination. Some of the common causes are nutritional deficiency, hormonal causes like androgenic alopecia or patterned baldness, hypothyroidism, telogen effluvium, etc.
Unless we find and treat the cause, there is no point in giving non-specific treatment. Oils or shampoos do not have any effect on hair growth as they are not absorbed into the skin. Please send photographs using the online consult option for proper diagnosis and a detailed prescription.
I hope this helps you,
Thank you.
