Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have been experiencing hair loss and thinning of hair since the age of 23. Some people have suggested undergoing a hair transplant to address this issue. After undergoing a hair transplant, I would like to know what treatments or medications I should use to promote thick hair growth and resolve my hair loss problem effectively. I would like to seek proper advice and medication recommendations to address this concern. Kindly help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thank you for your query.
Hair fall can be explained as follows:
It is normal to experience 75-100 hair falls every day, and this should not be a cause for concern. Hair loss is only considered significant if the number of hair falls exceeds this range.
Procedures like straightening can weaken the hair roots. Additionally, conditions like fever, typhoid, malaria, thyroid issues, etc., can also lead to hair fall, although they are less common.
In males, the most common cause of hair loss is androgenic alopecia. This is a genetically determined disorder where terminal hairs gradually convert into indeterminate hairs and eventually into vellus hairs.
Treatment Recommendations:
For your condition, you can use 5 % Minoxidil lotion along with Finasteride (Morr-F lotion). Apply 1 ml of this lotion locally twice daily. Please note that in the initial two months, you may experience an increase in hair fall, but do not discontinue the treatment.
Minoxidil is safe to use and should be applied continuously for sustained benefits.
You can continue using this treatment for as long as you desire to address your hair fall problem.
Additionally, consider taking vitamin supplements like tablet Xtraglo (biotin, copper, iron, selenium, zinc, L-cysteine, L-lysine, methionine) once daily for 6 months.
It is important to get a review after one month to monitor the progress of the treatment.
I hope I have addressed your concerns. Feel free to reach out if you have any further questions.
Thank you.
