Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am a 29-year-old female. I have severe hair fall. I take multivitamins and iron pills daily for iron deficiency. I have tried biotin, expensive shampoos, conditioners, leave-in conditioners, etc. Nothing seems to be working. I wash my hair every other day because it tends to get very oily. I have not styled my hair with heat for almost a month. I still have significant hair loss. Two days ago, I counted 85 hairs, and today it was over 100 hairs right after a shower. Every time I run my fingers through my hair, I lose one or two. The hairs are not always long, sometimes it is shorter (as if it is just breaking off). It is concerning. Naturally, I have thin hair, and I feel like my hair is thinning quite a bit. I never had any major medical issues. Can you tell me the cause of my hair loss?
Hi,
I am glad you chose icliniq for your medical-related queries.
I understand your concern and will try to help you with it.
Excessive hair fall can be due to male or female pattern baldness, physical illness or mental stress in the past three to six months, low serum ferritin, nutritional deficiency, certain medical conditions like thyroid problems and other hormonal disorders, after cosmetic hair procedures like chemical straightening, etc. I suggest you take a nutritious and protein-rich diet (pulses, milk products, eggs, etc.), hair supplements for three to six months and apply Minoxidil 2 % lotion over the affected area, twice daily. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her and take the medicines with their consent.
Thank you for consulting me.
