Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 34-year-old male weighing 171.96 pounds and 5 feet 8 inches tall. My heartbeat is a little fast, and I think it might be a BP issue. The last time I checked my BP, it was 170/110 mmHg. I am taking Telma AM tablets currently. Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Thank you for stopping by!

I am here to provide expert opinion on your medical issues.

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing a fast heartbeat and high blood pressure. A fast heartbeat, also known as tachycardia, can sometimes be a normal physiological response to stress or exercise. However, if you are experiencing a persistent fast heartbeat, it could be a sign of an underlying medical condition like anxiety, dehydration, or an overactive thyroid gland. High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, is a common condition that can increase the risk of heart disease, stroke (damage to the brain due to interrupted blood supply), and kidney disease. If you recently had your blood pressure checked and it was 170/110 or higher, I suggest consulting with a healthcare provider for further evaluation and treatment. I also suggest the following lifestyle changes to help lower your blood pressure:

1. Eat a healthy diet low in salt and saturated fat.

2. Exercise regularly.

3. Maintain a healthy weight.

4. Limit alcohol intake.

5. Quit smoking.

6. Manage stress through techniques like meditation, yoga, or deep breathing exercises.

7. Get enough sleep (at least seven to eight hours per night).

I hope this information helps you manage your symptoms and improve your overall health!

Thank you.
