Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been having an extremely long and heavy period for nearly a month and a half, I have been to my local doctors, and they said it is normal and just changed the amount of my birth control pills-which was to help with my periods in the first place where I did not have one at all, I have been on the birth control pills for just under a year and have not experienced any problems until now. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

If you are on birth control pills, it can cause irregular bleeding. If it is a prolonged period, you must visit your nearest doctor and get a scan to see endometrial thickness. According to it, tablets can be prescribed. Usually, if you are bleeding irregularly on Progesterone, an estrogen-containing pill will do the trick. For two days, you may try a combined oral contraceptive pill, morning and evening. Then if it stops, you may continue the rest of the pills for 21 days. For that, you should not have other comorbidities. So enquire before you start.

I hope I have answered your question.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
