Can you suggest medications to reduce heavy bleeding?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My napkins get soaked every two hours, and I cannot focus on my job. Also, this is physically exhausting. I need to change the napkin in my office frequently. I am constantly worried about the period stain. I get periods almost every month, and it bleeds for a maximum of three days. All the three days, it bleeds heavily. I usually do not have pain and cramps.

Can you suggest to me some tablets to reduce the bleeding severity? Also, what can I do to increase my blood levels? I fear I have lost a lot of blood already due to this. I feel fragile, and it is frustrating.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

There are medicines available to decrease excessive bleeding during periods and postpone the periods. Eat iron tablets to increase blood flow (consult with a specialist doctor, talk with him or her and take the medicines with their consent). The amount of bleeding is high for three days. I suggest you take tests such as sonography of the abdomen and a biopsy of the uterine endometrium.

Thank you.
