Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 39-year-old female. I get extremely heavy periods. My reports are normal and the ultrasound shows a minimal no-size fibroid, everything else is normal. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to the icliniq.com

I read your query and understand your concern.

The report shows there is a change of adenomyosis and a small fibroid of 19 x 25 mm so you are getting heavy periods. I suggest you get proper treatment for it. The treatment option depends on your decision and family.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thanks for your reply.

What are the treatments for this?

Answered by Dr. Khushbu

Hello,

Welcome back to the icliniq.com

I read your query and understand your concern.

Adenomyosis can be treated for pain and heavy bleeding so if you choose medical treatment then you need to take painkillers for pain and oral hormonal pills to control bleeding. An intrauterine progesterone device is available to control bleeding. Another way is a surgical procedure. For fibroid, you can opt for the same treatment as for adenomyosis.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for replying.

Is surgery required for this small fibroid? Can you please suggest medicines?

Answered by Dr. Khushbu

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com

For adenomyosis, medical treatment available is tablet Centchroman (Ormeloxifene) 60 mg, two times a week for six months, and the dose is reduced to once a week for another three months. It is a good option. If your family is complete then go for the intrauterine device Mirena which is the best ever option. Even after these treatments if you have heavy periods then go for surgical intervention. For fibroid, I recommend myomectomy if required. Here I cannot see any prescription upload option otherwise I could upload it.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

I may plan a baby in future so please suggest me the best options. What is myomectomy?

Answered by Dr. Khushbu

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com

I can understand your concern.

Myomectomy means the removal of fibroid with laparoscopy or open surgery. You can opt for hormonal pills which can help to reduce bleeding. You can start tablet containing Ethinylestradiol and Norgestrel daily at night for six months and you have to start from the second day of periods. If you do not have any comorbid conditions like liver issues, migraine, or cholesterol issues. Before planning for pregnancy get your reports and plan accordingly.

I hope I have cleared all your doubts.

Thank you.
