This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Is a yellow tint to my squirt normal, or could it be a UTI or something I should be concerned about and see a doctor for?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you so much for sharing your concern with me.

A yellow tint to the fluid you notice when squirting does not always mean infection. Squirted fluid often contains some urine mixed with vaginal secretions, so the color can vary with hydration, diet, or medications.

If you do not have burning during urination, foul odor, urgency, frequency, or lower abdominal pain, a UTI is less likely. However, if these symptoms are present along with cloudy or strong-smelling urine, an infection should be ruled out.

The possible differential diagnoses may be a minor UTI (urinary tract infection), a mixture of vaginal discharge with the fluid, or changes in urine color due to the patient’s diet or medications.

The most probable diagnosis, taking into account the lack of any other symptoms, is normal fluid variation rather than infection itself. Observation is appropriate at the current moment.

Nowadays, the patient should drink enough water and see whether the color becomes clear. The use of antibiotics is inappropriate in the case of a non-confirmed infection.

The patient should visit a doctor in case of burning, fever, pelvic pain, or further discoloration. Otherwise, it is enough just to monitor the situation.

To avoid such problems in the future, the patient should remain properly hydrated and urinate after sex.

Seek medical evaluation if you develop burning, fever, pelvic pain, or worsening discoloration. Otherwise, simple monitoring is sufficient.

I hope this helps address your concern.

Thank you so much.
