Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I had multiple unprotected anal intercourse in a week (I am on PrEP with perfect adherence ) and then I started to have tonsil white plaques on the right tonsil, along with pain in the tonsil (not a complete sore throat), and a fever of 100 Fahrenheit just for only one day. There is no lymphadenopathy, rash, orbital headache, or extreme fatigue. Is it just normal tonsillitis or could be an HIV acute syndrome? Kindly suggest.
Thank you.

Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
It has been a few days now, HIV Ag: Ab has always been negative, and I have started Amoxicillin and the situation seems to get better.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Thank you for your responses. These are not acute HIV syndrome symptoms. It is tonsillitis and you should take tablet Augmentin (Amoxicillin and Clavulanic acid) 625 mg three times a day and tablet Paracetamol 650 mg two or three times depending upon the pain in the throat. Take all the above-suggested medication for seven days. You should do a lukewarm water gargle with a pinch of salt in it, thrice a day. Get PrEP daily and try to avoid unprotected anal sexual intercourse as it carries the highest risk of HIV transmission. Kindly follow up if you have any further queries about it.
I hope this will help you.
Thank you.
