Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I went to a massage center where I only had a massage, but people also go there for sex. I am worried because I had a tiny sore on the outer skin of my penis at that time, and I was lying nude on the bed.
After about one month, I developed a severe viral fever that lasted for several days. I also had a CBC blood test done.
Even now, I am still experiencing dizziness and pain in my buttocks and legs. When this happens suddenly, I also feel mild diarrhea.
Is it possible that I could have contracted HIV from that massage?
Please help.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) is an infection that is transmitted only through specific and well-established routes.
These routes include unprotected sexual contact such as vaginal, anal, or oral sex with an infected person, sharing contaminated needles or syringes, and transmission from an infected mother to her child.
Mother-to-child transmission can occur during pregnancy through the placenta, at the time of delivery, or through breastfeeding. HIV is not spread through casual or everyday contact.
Activities such as sharing a couch or bed, sitting or lying on furniture previously used by a person living with HIV, hugging, shaking hands, using the same toilet, or being in the same room or environment do not pose any risk of HIV transmission.
The virus is fragile and does not survive for long outside the human body. It cannot live on surfaces and is not transmitted through clothing, bedding, air, sweat, saliva, or casual skin contact.
The symptoms you experienced are most likely due to a common viral infection. Viral fevers and flu-like illnesses are extremely common and can be caused by respiratory viruses that spread easily from person to person.
Such infections often cause fever, body aches, fatigue, dizziness, and digestive symptoms like loose stools. These symptoms are nonspecific and are not unique to HIV.
Based on this information, there is no reason to be concerned about HIV in this situation.
I hope this has helped you.
Please feel free to reach out to me again for further queries.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
It has been four months, and I still have internal pain in the buttocks and leg muscles, similar to what we experience during a viral infection. At times, I feel dizzy, and my muscles feel as if someone is pressing from the inside. I am also having mild diarrhea most of the time. Why is this happening?
Also, was my blood report normal, which I had shared?
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understood your concern.
I have seen the blood reports. Your complete blood count (CBC) report looks a bit abnormal. The red blood cell (RBC) size and volume, and hemoglobin (Hb), are lower than normal, and RBC size variability is increased. Also, your red cell count is higher than normal. These changes could be the reason for your symptoms.
I would suggest that you get a repeat CBC with peripheral smear and reticulocyte count to get a clearer picture.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.
Thank you.
