Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

For the last couple of weeks, I have been getting itchy hives on my legs, arms, sides, and back. I have been taking Benadryl nearly every day. I am not able to sleep due to this constant itching. I do not know what it could be. I have not changed any medication, laundry soap, or regular soap. I am a type 2 diabetic patient taking Metformin, Valsartan, Spironolactone, and Pioglitazone.

Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and examined your given images (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity). It seems you are suffering from acute urticaria. The causes of acute urticaria are infections (bacterial, viral, fungal, parasitic), drugs (pain killers or antibiotics), and certain foods and food additives or preservatives. You have to rule out the cause for a permanent cure. You can take Levocetirizine and Montelukast combination once daily for around one month. Also, take a deworming tablet like Albendazole 400 mg single dose once. A topical soothing lotion like Calamine local application twice daily for five to seven days will also help you. Consult your specialist doctor, talk with them, and take medications with their consent.

Thank you.
