HomeAnswersObstetrics and Gynecologyhormonal replacementI am worried about getting my period at the regular time despite taking medication suggested by the doctor to delay it. Since then it is still slightly bleeding. Please help.

What could cause failure of period delaying medication and a persistent bleeding?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My doctor prescribed the tablet Duphaston to delay my period. I got it at the regular time but less flow was there. Dark spotting and red flow were present and it stopped two days ago as my doctor said but still has light flow. Will it stop on its own? I am currently taking a tablet Cipralex 10 milligrams per day. I have never experienced this before. I also have taken a complete blood count test.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

Tablet Duphaston is a medication often prescribed to regulate menstrual cycles in certain situations. However, everyone's body can react differently to medications, and it is best to follow your doctor's advice. While it is normal to experience some changes in your menstrual cycle when taking hormonal medications, it is important to consult with your healthcare provider about any concerns or unexpected symptoms you may be experiencing. If you have stopped taking the medication as directed by your doctor, your menstrual flow may return to its usual pattern soon. However, if you have ongoing concerns or the light flow persists, it is always a good idea to consult with your gynecologist.

I hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards.
