Hi doctor,

I am 26 years old and I was diagnosed with hypertension before three years. I consulted a few allopathy doctors and nothing helped me. Then I went to an ayurvedic doctor. He told that this problem occurs due to high hemoglobin levels. So, he gave me some medicines to reduce hemoglobin levels and to control blood pressure. After two weeks, I started to have tiredness, erectile dysfunction, gynecomastia, hair fall, and pain in my left nipple. Can I have it due to low testosterone levels? I took a test of total testosterone and I have a level of 897 ng/dL. Please help me.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Please do not worry and do not take unnecessary medicines without investigations. High blood pressure occurs at a young age due to hyperaldosteronism, renal artery stenosis, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and still, there are many causes. Please do serum electrolytes, ECG (electrocardiography), color doppler of abdomen, echocardiogram, and urine metanephrine levels. At this age, you have a normal hemoglobin level of 17 ng/dL. I have gone through serum testosterone levels (attachment removed to protect patient identity) and it is quite normal. Do not take ayurvedic medications. Kindly review your reports with your physician. He will examine and treat you accordingly.
