Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I had protected sex two days after menstruation. Penetration was painful that day, and I had a lot of white discharge. I took an I-Pill within a few hours and took another I-Pill the next day.
Since then, I have been experiencing dull abdominal pain and white discharge on some days. Ten days later, I had slight bleeding that was initially watery and then became sticky and slippery, with tiny clots. The bleeding was a little heavier the next day.
What may be the cause of this?
I was diagnosed with PCOS and am taking Metital. What are my chances of pregnancy?
Are two I-Pills (Levonorgestrel) taken within 72 hours harmful to my body?
Why am I bleeding? Is this an effect of the pill, implantation bleeding, or something else?
I am worried that I could become pregnant even after taking two I-Pills, each containing 1.5 mg of Levonorgestrel, within 72 hours.
When should I expect my next period?
Kindly help.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
I have gone through your report(attachment removed to protect patient identity).
As you are already aware, polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS), previously known as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), can lead to irregular periods. You have taken two emergency contraceptive pills within a short period, which is not recommended. These hormone-based pills can cause side effects such as abdominal pain, nausea, light bleeding, or spotting several days after intake. They can also cause your period to come earlier or later than expected, sometimes by up to seven days.
You are unlikely to become pregnant, as you took two emergency contraceptive pills. These pills work in several ways: firstly, by preventing or delaying ovulation; secondly, by reducing the chance of fertilization; and thirdly, by making implantation less likely.
As far as the white discharge is concerned, please let me know whether you are experiencing only white discharge or if there is also itching. Is the discharge watery, or does it have a cottage cheese-like appearance?
Please answer these questions so I can guide you better. Nevertheless, the symptoms may suggest a vaginal infection. For relief, you may apply Clotrimazole cream locally. Use V-Wash to clean the area, keep the area dry, wear loose cotton underwear, and avoid intense exercise for the time being.
I hope this information will help you.
Thanks.
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
Now, it is just a watery discharge mixed with tiny clots. It is a light flow, and I have clots when urinating. I got very light blood in my pad yesterday, and today, I have a very light bleed until now.
I am worried that the double dose of I-pill will be very harmful if I am pregnant. Right now, I have minimal cramps.
Thanks.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
You have taken a double dose of the emergency contraceptive pill. It will affect your cycles. That is what you see: mild spotting, brownish discharge, etc. You can wait until your expected date of the period. You can continue to have mild bleeding or spotting until your regular periods.
I hope this information will help you.
Thanks.
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
Bleeding (spotting) is light today, nine days before my period.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
It is unlikely that you are pregnant. Abnormal bleeding is due to the high dose of hormones. You have taken an I-pill within the period, so there is nothing else you can do about it. Just wait a week and then do a urine pregnancy test to alleviate your anxiety.
I hope this information will help you.
Thanks.
Patient's Query
Thank you doctor,
Can I be pregnant even after this bleeding? My bleeding has stopped now.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
The success rate of emergency contraceptive pills is more than 90 percent if taken within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse. No one can tell you with 100% guarantee that you will not get pregnant. Yes, if you have taken the pill within the time frame, it is unlikely that you will be pregnant.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Thank you doctor,
And what about the cramps I am facing. I am feeling a little nauseous and lighlt bleeding again. Are these cramps side effects of i-pill?
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Yes, do not worry about the cramps. It is due to the side effects of the I-pill.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Thank you doctor,
When does implanation bleeding occur and how does it look?
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Implantation bleeding is the light bleeding or spotting a female experiences after two weeks (10 to 14 days) of conceiving. It is generally around the time of the female's period. However, a few ladies experience it, and a few do not experience it. Some ladies misunderstood implantation bleeding as a period and vice versa. It is very light bleeding, or it will be just spotting of blood.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Thank you doctor,
I had sex two days after my period stop, and I took two pills and started bleeding after ten days. What is the chance that this is implantation bleeding? I also have Metital twice a day. Can that counter effect i-pill?
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Since you had protected intercourse and more to that, you had two I-pill. There is no chance for you to conceive in such a short time, and hence no chance of implantation bleeding.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Thank you doctor,
Does having two i-pills in a short time counter effect each other? I read that withdrawal bleeding is like a period only, but I had so light bleeding and only three days. Is that a cause for concern?
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Your first query is not correct as per my knowledge. The second query is valid. For some ladies, it is light bleeding. Every human body is different and behaves differently. Some do not experience any withdrawal bleeding.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
Can you tell me how I-Pill works? What does withdrawal bleeding mean? Should I consider this withdrawal bleeding or just spotting?
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understood your concern.
Please wait until your expected period date to be sure. I-Pill (Levonorgestrel) works through three mechanisms:
It inhibits or delays ovulation.
It helps prevent fertilization.
It reduces the likelihood of implantation.
At this stage, it may be difficult to determine with certainty whether the bleeding represents withdrawal bleeding or simple spotting. Waiting until your expected period date will provide a clearer answer.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
Will taking two I-Pills affect my expected period date?
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understood your concern.
Withdrawal bleeding means bleeding that occurs after a high dose of hormones is given to a patient, and then the hormone levels fall.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
Does withdrawal bleeding mean the contraception worked?
Please guide.

Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
You said yes, but I am confused. Could you kindly specify which question you were referring to?
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understood your concern.
Yes, I was referring to the withdrawal bleeding, which suggests that the emergency contraception has had a hormonal effect and is likely working as intended.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
In a normal cycle, when is the safest time to avoid pregnancy?
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understood your concern.
Do not rely on timing methods. Use proven birth control methods, such as birth control pills or barrier contraception like condoms. Do not use emergency contraceptive pills too often. Timing-based methods have often caused significant problems for couples.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
What are the chances that this was implantation bleeding? What happened before that?
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understood your concern.
No, there is very little chance that this was implantation bleeding, as I explained above. Implantation bleeding usually occurs closer to the expected date of the next period, not shortly after a period has ended.
Since the intercourse occurred only a couple of days after your period ended, bleeding that occurred soon afterward would not fit the typical timing of implantation bleeding.
Do you have any other sexual activity or exposure that is making you particularly worried about pregnancy?
I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
I have not had any sexual activity since then.
Kindly help.

Have you had any sexual activity before that?
For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.

Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
Before this, I had sexual activity during the previous menstrual cycle, and afterward, I had a normal, heavy menstrual period.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understood your concern.
Since you had a normal, heavy menstrual period after that earlier sexual activity and have not had any other sexual activity since, there is no reason to worry about pregnancy from that encounter. Based on the information you have provided, you are safe.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
I am also a little worried because I have PMOS, which causes irregular periods and ovulation.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
Can you tell me which birth control pills I can take that will not affect my PMOS, and when I should take them? I am having a little white discharge. It is mostly watery and translucent in color. What might be the cause?
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understood your concern.
See, birth control pills are also commonly used for menstrual health issues, so do not worry. You can use Ethinylestradiol with Desogestrel, for example, but I would not recommend starting birth control pills if you are not having frequent intercourse.
As for the white discharge, as I explained earlier, it can occur for various reasons, including a vaginal infection. Please tell me whether you are also experiencing any itching.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.
Thank you.

Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
Kindly review my beta hCG test report, which was performed approximately two weeks after the intercourse in question, and let me know what it indicates.
Kindly help.

Hi doctor,
Thanks for the reply.
This report I did at two weeks. The white discharge is stretchy and translucent.

Hi doctor,
Thanks for the reply.
My period has still not come. Is that a sign of pregnancy, or what might be the case?
Please guide.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
You can wait for a week. But if you take so much stress, it will further delay your periods. If you want, you can do a urine pregnancy test.
I hope this information will help you.
Thanks.
