Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I took the plan B pill 1 month before my period. A few days after taking the plan B pill, I had spotting just like periods for six days but with much darker blood. I have not got my period yet. Could I be pregnant?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Thanks for trusting us with your health care.

I have gone through your history and understand your concerns. As you have proper menses at your time of period date, there is no chance of pregnancy in your case. Withdrawal bleeding is only a side effect of the I pill, it happened due to the sudden withdrawal of hormones from your body. So it is not necessarily happened to everyone. You may have menstrual irregularities in your case, which could be due to hormonal imbalance caused by an I pill. That is why it is a little unpredictable when you receive your next period, maybe you will get it on time or delayed by 7 to 10 days. As you took I pill on time (within 24 hours) there is almost no chance of pregnancy in your case.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
