Is IVF successful in females when fallopian tubes and ovaries are removed?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 27-year-old, female, and have had my fallopian tubes removed, one ovary removed, and a uterine ablation. Is there any chance of carrying a pregnancy? IVF? Or any option for me?

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

With both fallopian tubes removed, natural conception is not possible, but IVF (in vitro fertilization) could still work if your remaining ovary is healthy. However, a uterine ablation significantly reduces the chance of carrying a pregnancy, as it damages the uterine lining. A gestational surrogate using your eggs may be the best option. Would you like to discuss fertility evaluations?

I hope this helps.

Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.

Thank you.
