Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 24-year-old female, five feet tall, who experienced two menstrual periods in a single month. This occurred after taking a contraceptive pill, and the bleeding lasted more than seven days in small amounts. Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

Withdrawal bleeding is a common side effect of the emergency contraceptive pill, resulting from the sudden withdrawal of hormones from your body. However, it may not occur for everyone. Menstrual irregularities, possibly stemming from a hormonal imbalance triggered by the I-pill (Levenorgestrel), could lead to unpredictable timing for your next period. It might occur on time or be delayed by seven to ten days. Given that you took the pill within 24 hours, the likelihood of pregnancy in your case is almost negligible.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
