Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 33-year-old female. I have no medical history, but my periods have been irregular lately, occurring once every two months. I have been on DHEA for over eight weeks and have a lot of eggs, which measured close to 15 mm the last time I went for a SONAR. We have been trying to conceive for two years. I had an abortion three years ago after becoming pregnant suddenly. I am also seeing a surgeon, since I am experiencing stomach pain in the morning. Can helicobacter cause irregular menstrual cycles? And do I even ovulate? Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

You are of the appropriate pregnancy age (19 to 35 years old). If you have been pregnant before, no matter what the outcome was, you will undoubtedly become pregnant again. When you have menstruation once every two months (or more than forty-five days), it simply signifies that you are not ovulating. To have a kid, you must have a healthy egg and inner uterine lining, not just any egg that ruptures on its own, and an inner uterine lining or endometrium of sufficient size. Sperm and egg are extremely sensitive, and so if they are damaged by any condition, they will not create a viable embryo, which might be the cause of abortion.

Helicobacter pylori is a bacteria that lives in everyone's stomach or intestine; however, it only appears when the balance of healthy bacteria is disrupted by antibiotics or overuse of drugs. They never cause infertility or harm the fetus.

A 15-mm egg size is considered normal; however, the days of the periods should be between days nine and eleven.

Pulsation may also be noticed owing to uterine congestion caused by imminent periods or hormonal imbalances.

DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone) is thought to stimulate the sleeping follicles or eggs in the ovaries. Why have them when you already have so many and are having periods?

The odds of conception rise just by taking Clomid, a non-steroidal fertility medicine containing Clomiphene citrate, but for a 33-year-old woman, the following step should be considered.

The causes of ovulation, absence of ovulation, or release of an egg can be due to PCOD (polycystic ovarian disease). Once you reduce weight to the normal range, you will not need any medicine to get periods or to get pregnant, and pregnancy will be healthy.

To reduce weight, I suggest the following:

  1. Eliminate fast food, junk food, and red meat, and restrict your snacking between meals.

  2. Consume low-calorie, high-protein meals.

  3. Regular exercise , aerobics, yoga, and fast walking will help you lose five to nine pounds each month. Do not hurry weight reduction as it will be difficult to maintain. You will see changes when you have shed at least 11 pounds. Even if your weight is normal, this regimen can assist.

  4. Get a thyroid profile and serum prolactin done on an empty stomach.

  5. Avoid excessive mental and physical stress.

Please check to determine whether the investigative checklist below has been completed.

  1. Blood glucose levels should be tested for the husband at least twice, four weeks apart, by an andrologist.

  2. For the wife: blood sugar levels, thyroid profile, and ultrasound scans of the uterus, ovaries, and adnexa (region adjacent to the ovary).

  3. Confirmation of tubal patency is vital, especially if you have a history of abortion and are approaching the 35-year age limit.

  4. Confirm HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) levels using an X-ray, SSG (sonosalpingography) scan, or laparoscopy (a surgical procedure used to examine the organs in the abdomen using a video camera).

You can try these techniques. All procedures require four to six sittings and five to six months for optimal outcomes.

I hope this information will help you.

Kindly revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.
