I am a 37-year-old female diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) three years ago, predominantly the IBS-D type. I have frequent loose stools four to five times a day, especially after meals, along with abdominal cramping, bloating, and occasional urgency.

My recent stool tests were negative for infection, and the colonoscopy six months ago was normal. I also have had generalized anxiety disorder for the past five years, with my last GAD-7 score at 14, indicating moderate anxiety. My BMI is 23.6 kg/m², blood pressure averages 116/74 mmHg, and fasting blood sugar is 92 mg/dL.

I am currently taking Dicyclomine 10 mg as needed for cramps and Escitalopram 10 mg daily for anxiety. I avoid dairy and high-fat foods, which worsen my symptoms, and I drink around 67.628 ounces of water daily. My vitamin D level is 20 ng/mL, and my hemoglobin is 11.4 g/dL. I do not smoke or drink alcohol.

I am concerned that my anxiety is making my IBS worse and that flare-ups are affecting my work and social life. I would like to know if gut-directed therapies, probiotics, or dietary plans like the low-FODMAP diet could help manage both my IBS and anxiety effectively.
