Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I had a hydrafacial yesterday evening. When I woke up in the morning, my skin showed redness, inflammation, and small papules (bumps).
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have gone through your query and understand your concern.
Thank you for sharing the details and the image (attachment removed to protect the patient’s identity). Based on the history and the appearance of redness, inflammation, and small papules after a hydrafacial, you have developed acute contact dermatitis (an itchy rash caused by direct contact with a substance or an allergic reaction to it) or an irritant reaction following the procedure. This can occur due to sensitivity to exfoliating agents, serums, suction, or post-procedure products. It is uncomfortable but temporary and completely manageable, so please do not worry.
For treatment, apply Fudic H cream (Fusidic acid plus Hydrocortisone) in a thin layer twice daily for three days only to the affected areas. This will help reduce inflammation and redness and prevent secondary infection. After completing these three days, stop Fudic H and then start Acsolve (Clindamycin + Tretinoin) lotion once daily at bedtime for one week. This will help calm the skin and prevent post-inflammatory breakouts.
In addition, you may take tablet Softin F (Fexofenadine) 120 mg at bedtime to reduce itching and the allergic response. During this healing phase, keep your skincare routine very simple. Avoid makeup, facials, scrubs, exfoliants, retinoids, vitamin C, salicylic acid, or any active products for at least seven to ten days. Wash your face with a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser, then apply a light, non-comedogenic moisturizer such as Dermive sensitive (Jenpharm).
You should notice significant improvement within 48 to 72 hours, with redness and bumps settling gradually over the week. This is a short-term reaction and does not mean your skin is permanently damaged. With proper care, your skin should return to normal soon.
I hope I have answered your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thank you.
