Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have pain in my right jaw while opening. There is also a clicking sound while opening and closing the jaws. I also feel that my left jaw is lower than the right. I started having these symptoms in the past six months. I consulted a dentist but he just gave me medicines. What could be the problem?

Thank you.

Hi,

I appreciate you signing up on icliniq.com.

You now have exclusive access to expert medical opinion.

Your problem of pain and clicking in the right jaw along with an imbalance in the jaw can denote a mild jaw dislocation. Taking medicine alone will not resolve the problem. You should consult an oral surgeon and get evaluated and a panoramic X-ray has to be taken to diagnose the exact condition of the jaw joints. Only then a treatment can be suggested. If the joint is dislocated, then reduction and relocation must be done. If there are other conditions related to disturbed jaw function, then a combination of painkillers and muscle relaxants might help. Physiotherapy and mouthguards will help along with it.

I hope this information will help you. Kindly revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
