Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My brother has a long-standing kidney disease. I am his sister. He is 45, and I am 35 years old. Our blood groups are the same, and the doctor said I could lend him my kidney. I am interested but also afraid of the same. Can I arrange another healthy donor of a similar blood group? Will that give the same result as my kidney donation or different due to another person? What will happen in the process if I have to donate him the kidney? Can you explain me?
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
A person can survive with one kidney. You can donate it. Otherwise, you can find out other healthy donors also. They will undergo a fitness test, and if everything is fine, the doctors will proceed.
