Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a kidney stone of seven millimeters in size. Please find the report attached. Three days back, I had pain; now it is reduced. Please suggest the next course of action. Do I wait for it to go away naturally or go with surgery?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Based on the size and location of the stone, there is approximately a 55 to 60 percent chance that you may pass the stone naturally with the help of some medications. However, there is no guarantee as many factors are involved, and even if you pass the stone, it may get stuck in the urethra. I would suggest that if you have diabetes, have a fever, severe pain, vomiting, passing blood in your urine, or would not like to take the risk, you go for a laser procedure, which is simple. The procedure can generally be done as a daycare case, and the success rate would be approximately 95 percent. Should you decide to go with medication, please take the below-mentioned tablets for ten days and repeat a scan after two weeks to see if the stone has passed. Take the medications after consulting your specialist doctor: Tablet Urimax (Tamsulosin hydrochloride) 0.4 mg once daily at night for ten days, tablet Zerodol-P (Aceclofenac and Paracetamol) twice daily for seven days, and capsule Razo-D (Rabeprazole and Domperidone ) 20 or 30 mg once daily for seven days. Drink around three liters of water daily to help flush the stone out. Hope this helps. Please review back after two weeks with the USG (ultrasound) report.

Thank you.
