Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have had swelling in my labia minora for months now. I have been to the gynecologist three times. She said it was a Bartholin's cyst the first time, but I knew it was not, so I went back. The second time, the swelling had gone down, so she told me to come back when it was swollen again, and I did. At the third visit, she did a herpes test, which came back negative, but she still was not able to diagnose me. She said it was most likely hormone-related, but I am about to get married, and it is making sex painful.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Chronic labia minora swelling with pain during sex, despite negative herpes testing and no clear diagnosis, may suggest a condition like vulvar vestibulitis, lymphatic congestion, or hormone-related vulvar edema. Since it is persistent and affecting intimacy, consider seeing a vulvar specialist or dermatologist for further evaluation and possibly imaging or biopsy if needed.
I hope this helps.
Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.
Thank you.
