Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Yesterday, I got my ECG done. It shows sinus rhythm, abnormal left axis deviation, left anterior fascicular block. I am worried. I have long-term anxiety about heart. I am a smoker but not alcoholic. I always have a fear of heart disease. Kindly advice. My BP is 110/70 mmHg, triglycerides is 144 mg/dl and fasting blood sugar is 84 mg/dl.

Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Left anterior fascicular block is always associated with left axis deviation and caused by either hypertension, myocardial infarction or idiopathic fibrosis. This block means that the pathway of electricity of the heart in the left ventricle is blocked which may or may not affect the pumping function of the heart. I suggest that you perform echocardiography to identify the cause and the general function of the heart. Do not smoke as it may cause myocardial infarctions in the future.

I hope this helps.

Take care.
