Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have been suffering from lichen planus on both my hands and legs, resulting in itching and the formation of white scars in these areas.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understood your concern.
Please relax and try to reduce stress. Violent plaques are visible in the attached image (attachments removed to protect the patient’s identity). This appears to be lichen planus. Avoid scratching the lesions, as this can lead to the spreading of lesions or cause linear lichenification.
I suggest you follow the treatment plan to manage lichen planus given below:
Moisturize your skin frequently. Use Moiz MM (moisturizer) cream during the daytime for one month.
Apply Calosoft AF (moisturizer) lotion two to three times daily for one month.
Apply Tenovate (Fluocinonide) cream at night for 15 days.
Take 5 mg of Levocetirizine at night after eating food for seven days if itching persists.
Avoid known triggers.
Reduce exposure to irritants.
Use mild soaps like Soapex for bathing.
Avoid harsh soaps and cosmetics.
Consume a diet rich in antioxidants, zinc, omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamins A and C.
Eliminate stress, as it can trigger lichen planus.
Avoid direct sunlight.
Use appropriate sun protection measures.
Apply Sper sunscreen lotion 30 minutes before going outdoors in the sun.
Stay hydrated.
Follow up after one month.
I hope this helps.
Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.
Thank you.
