Hi doctor,
A couple of weeks back, I took the a few blood tests that I have attached due to a bacterial food infection. I am fine now after the course of antibiotics. I would like to know whether my liver is healthy. Please review my LFT and advise whether my liver is fine. Please prescribe medication to cleanse and strengthen my liver.

I saw the report you have attached (attachment removed to protect patient identity). Sorry for your discomfort. Your liver enzymes that is SGOT (aspartate transaminase), SGPT (alanine transaminase), alkaline phosphatase and GGT (gamma-glutayl transferase) are normal. The other liver function parameters are also normal reflecting adequate and healthy liver.
The total bilirubin level should be between 0 to 1 mg/dl. Yours is 1.6 mg/dl. Do not worry about the mild increase in value. This increase in total bilirubin level is due to a mild increase in the indirect bilirubin level of 1.3 mg/dl. Your direct bilirubin is 0.3 mg/dl. In case if your liver is not working properly, then there would be more increase in direct bilirubin component and also other enzymes of liver would be raised (in your case liver function test and direct bilirubin component is normal).
Now my question is, why is there an increase in indirect bilirubin? (which is the cause of the increase in total bilirubin level). This indirect bilirubin increase indicates some acquired hemolysis of RBCs (red blood cells), which may be due to an infection you recently had. In your report below, you have a normal Hb (hemoglobin) level and normal CBC (complete blood count) parameters. So, you have to repeat the test (only liver function test) to see the bilirubin level and do peripheral blood smear to look for any hemolysis of RBC.

Thank you for your advice.
I will try to get this test done. I am hoping that this test is not urgently required. Can I start taking any medication for bringing down my indirect bilirubin levels to normal levels like Liv 52 tablets?

Redo the above tests in a week or two. The tablet Liv 52 (nutritional supplement) is given to strengthen the liver when there is some liver abnormality found in the tests. Your liver is working well (according to the above report), and it is not the reason for the increase in indirect bilirubin, so better avoid taking a tablet for now. Do the tests to look for the likely increase or decrease in bilirubin value and peripheral blood smear to look for any sign of hemolysis of RBC (red blood cells).
