What could be done to prevent pregnancy complications?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am six weeks pregnant. I had a neural tube defect in the previous pregnancy and I was forced to do dilatation and curettage. Now my doctor suggested Lonopin with Ecosprin. Is it compulsory to take it regularly? Kindly advice. Lonopin is a very painful injection.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Both medications are blood-thinning medications and need to be given in proper conditions, like previous multiple miscarriages, clotting disorders, bedridden patients, obese patients, and many other medical disorders. These medications are given as soon as fetal viability comes out positive.

It is better to send me your detailed previous history, present gynecological status, and obstetrical, medical, and drug history. So I can guide you well.

But it is for a better outcome and to prevent clot formation. So better to continue these medications and discuss them in detail with the complete history for your satisfaction.

Kindly send me a detailed history for further guidance. Take Folic Acid 5 mg due to previous history of abnormal fetuses and termination.

I advise you to take regular antenatal visits with the maternal and fetal medicine. In case of any abnormality, report immediately.
