Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have completed my 14th week of pregnancy and I got to know that my placenta is low-lying. I have to catch a flight next month. Is it safe to travel in next month by air?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern. According to the report, I can say that you can safely travel by air as it has been just 14 weeks and the placenta is also 3 cm away from the internal OS. So the pressure at high altitude would not affect much. But you are saying you have a flight after a month so we cannot predict now that after a month the placental position will remain the same or not. In most cases as the pregnancy progresses, the placenta goes upward but in some cases, it may come down too. So I would suggest repeating the scan near your scheduled travel date and then deciding accordingly. I hope this information helps you. Feel free to ask further queries.

Thank you.
