Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
About two months back, I went on a salt reduction drive and reduced my daily salt intake by 2 grams. I increased my potassium by 2 grams daily by taking potassium citrate solution. The outcome has made me much more capable physically and mentally.
First, can you tell me if such an outcome is possible? Second, would there be any contraindications to the ingestion of potassium citrate solution?
Kindly suggest. Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to iclinic.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
It is good to hear that you have beneficial effects with salt restriction and potassium supplements. Yes, the outcome is good because your blood pressure remains stable, and circulation remains good with it. With the amount of potassium you are taking now, you will not have any problem. I suggest you monitor your kidney functions if you are taking it for long.
Thank you.
