Why is the knot on my forehead, that appeared after a fall, still there after five days?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I fell and got a lump on my forehead five days ago. It is still there and has not gone down. It went down initially after the first day, but it has stayed the same size since then. Currently, I am taking thyroid medications.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your concern in detail and will surely help you out.

I have seen the picture attached (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). The bump is due to trauma which causes inflammation and swelling, and this will go away with time.

However, I suggest Fucibet ointment (Betamethasone and Fusidic acid) be applied twice a day to the affected area to make it heal faster. However, seeing your picture, I think you have suffered multiple injuries. In that case, I suggest you physically visit a doctor and get yourself evaluated. Also, you will need a CT (computed tomography) scan of the head to make sure there are no internal injuries within the head that might worsen over time.

Do not worry regarding the bump, it will go away, but I will suggest a physical consultation. I hope this helps. Kindly revert in case of further queries. Thank you.
