Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 63-year-old woman with terminal lung cancer, exploring treatment options. My oncologist mentioned immunotherapy.
Does immunotherapy always cause less suffering than chemotherapy in terminal lung cancer?
In simple terms, are the side effects usually milder, and will it improve the quality of life compared to traditional chemotherapy?
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com
I am really sorry to hear about your diagnosis, and I truly understand how difficult and overwhelming this time must be for you. I sincerely hope you are doing okay and receiving the support and care you need.
I understand and appreciate the fear and pain that can come with being diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. I want to reassure you that immunotherapy and targeted therapy usually have much milder side effects compared to chemotherapy. They generally do not cause hair loss, severe weakness, frequent infections, or major loss of appetite. In many cases, patients are able to continue their daily activities with good energy levels. These treatments can also help reduce the size of the tumor and control its spread, and many patients respond well to them.
Please do not feel overly worried about starting treatment. Most people tolerate these therapies well, and your medical team will closely monitor you throughout. If you have any concerns or questions at any time, we are always here to support you.
Treatment plan:Targeted therapy and immunotherapy
Follow-up:After 7 days
Kindly revert if there are any queries.
Thank you.
