Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am having suicidal thoughts and crying out loud over small things. I want someone to be there for me but no one is here to understand me. I am having some relationship issues, we are in long distance relationship and he is not giving me much time and ignores my calls and that is why I overthink a lot and get disturbed mentally and cry easily.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
Thank you for taking help from a psychiatrist. I can understand your situation. You may have major depressive disorder due to your relationship problem. There is non-pharmacological management for your depression. You should try to follow the below guidelines to deal with it. It will help you.
You should exercise for 30 to 45 minutes daily, like at least going for a walk.
You should meditate for 20 minutes daily. Sit in one place in a comfortable position, and try to concentrate on your normal breath. Do not stop or force yourself to stop your thoughts; just let them be. It will help you to relax.
You should eat healthy home-cooked foods and avoid junk foods.
You must drink enough water.
You should spend quality time with friends and family daily or do video calls if you are living away from your family.
You should spend time on creative hobbies like reading good books, writing journals, painting, drawing, and learning new skills or language or musical instruments.
You should get seven to eight hours of sleep daily.
You must avoid tobacco, alcohol, or any substance abuse.
Live your life; do not just spend it.
Be bold and confident.
You must talk about your problem or expectation to your boyfriend. Even you should try to understand that he may be busy with work so he may not be able to talk with you. Give him personal space.
Suicide is not the solution to any problem, but every problem has one good solution.
I suggest you take a capsule Fluoxetine 20 milligrams (antidepressant) daily in the morning after breakfast. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him/her, and take the medicines with their consent.
I hope I have answered your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards.
