Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I injured my knee two weeks ago while practicing kickboxing and did not pivot correctly on a roundhouse kick. I have been practicing for a long time, but I have had a constant burning pain in my MCL (medial collateral ligament) area since Monday. Slight discoloration is seen, but there is no instability. But certain movements are worse than others. I know I need to rest but for how long?
I am currently taking Dicloflam and Mybulen. Seventeen years ago, I had an ACL repair.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Could you please mark the exact site of pain on your knee and send pictures to me?
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have attached the reports.
Please help me, doctor.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
The area which you have pointed could be medial collateral ligament attachment at the tibia or medial meniscus. In both cases, initial treatment is conservative.
I advise you to do ice fomentation at least three to four times a day for ten to fifteen minutes. Avoid heavy sports. There is no need for complete rest. You need to stay away from your sports for at least six weeks because that area has a scant blood supply, so it takes time to heal.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Thanks for your response.
If it starts to feel any better, I will begin cycling moderately to keep my fitness intact. Can I use a boxing bag by putting the weights on the healthy leg?
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
You can do cycling but not sure about boxing. It depends on your improvement. Let us review you after another three weeks.
Thank you.
