What is best for hemorrhoids aloe vera gel or lemon juice?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am suffering from hemorrhoids. It is not an ongoing case. It just happened due to severe constipation. Apart from medicine, which is better for external hemorrhoids? Is it Aloe vera gel or lemon juice? Is there a good painkiller for such situation? I tried Panadol and it worked fine, but I would like to know if there is a more effective one. Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com. I have reviewed all the data you have provided. In order to alleviate the symptoms of hemorrhoids, it is important to keep the stools soft and reduce pressure on the affected area. Including foods that are rich in dietary fiber is crucial, as fiber adds bulk to the stool and helps to retain water, resulting in softer stools. Good sources of fiber include bananas, watermelon, and oranges. The fibrous part of fruits is particularly beneficial. If despite dietary changes, your stools remain hard, you may need to use laxatives such as syrup Lactitol (0.67 tbsp) at bedtime. Vitamin C is important for healing, so consuming lemon juice is beneficial in this regard. As for medications, newer tablets like Pileum (containing Proanthocyanidins and vitamin C) can be useful in promoting healing and strengthening the walls of blood vessels in hemorrhoids, thereby reducing bleeding. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let me know.
