Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Three months back was the last date of my menstrual cycle. A month after that I found out that I am pregnant. I took one tablet of Mifepristone two days after I found out about my pregnancy, the next day I took two tablets of Misoprostol. I bled for a couple of hours and then it stopped, I took the remaining two tablets of Misoprostol at bedtime. I did not bleed after that. Then I got myself checked by another doctor the next day, she said that the dose was taken inappropriately. I got my pelvic ultrasound done, the endometrial cavity reveals a 26 by 17 by 18 mm size retained product. She inserted two tablets of Misoprostol in my genitals late in the evening and said that I would start to bleed in an hour. She told me to have a tablet of Ergolin for three days. Then I started to bleed normally after I took the tablet Ergolin, there were no blood clots. I had six tablets of Ergolin for three days, as suggested by my doctor. Today was my last day of the dose and today itself I got blood clots in the morning, also got my sonography test today, and the endometrial cavity reveals a 20 by 17 by 11 mm size retained product. The doctor suggested going for dilation and curettage (D&C), but I wanted termination to happen medically. So she suggested taking four tablets of Misoprostol together and trying it.
I have a few questions as follows:
1) Should I go for the medication?
2) If that also does not work then what should I do?
3) I am unmarried and they need the guy's documents for the dilation and curettage (D&C) process, he does not stay in the same town. He would not be able to turn up.
4) Could D&C cause a problem in my womb and create issues for my next legit pregnancy?
5) What else could I do rather than D&C, can you suggest any other medication?
6) I do not want my uterus to be affected by this, I have had no infection till now, and I want the easy way out because it has been stressing me a lot.
7) Will I be able to conceive in the future? Will it happen normally?
I need help urgently. Please reply as soon as possible.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understand your concern.
If the medical termination does not succeed and you still have retained products, then you are left with no choice but to go for dilation and curettage (D&C). I would like to assure you be assured that it would not affect your future pregnancies; your male friend is not required to come and certify. Yes, you would be able to conceive in the future, and it would not lead to any infection. Just relax, and if medications fail, get them evacuated manually. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her, and make the decision with their consent.
I hope I have answered your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards.
Patient's Query
Thank you doctor for the reply,
It is a very confidential procedure for me. I do not want my family to know about this. I want to know if this will ever arise in the future. Will any doctor will come to know that I have gone through this? If any complications arrive in the future regarding pregnancy, do I have to tell my family doctor about it or will he get to know?
Please guide me.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
I would like you to know that nobody will come to know about it at all. Just do not worry, it will remain confidential. You are an adult and according to the Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) Act you have the right to decide. Just relax.
I hope this helps.
Thank you and take care.
Regards.
