Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had a little scar on my thigh from squeezing a blackhead or a mole eleven months ago. Now l have brown discoloration around the scar, which I am quite conscious about. I have two questions;

1) Could the slow healing be a sign that the blackhead was a black mole and resulted in an early melanoma? My general practitioner has asked for a biopsy, so I am uncertain.

2) How can I reduce this discoloration or speed up healing?

I am attaching the pictures of the affected area. Kindly suggest.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

From the attachment (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity), it does not seem anything more than just discoloration. Your doctor would have evaluated you in person and noted the size, shape, elevation, and surrounding area before advising you with a biopsy. Try squeezing some lime in glycerin and rose water to reduce discoloration. Or you may try mixing turmeric and honey together, apply it as a paste, and keep it for some time. If you develop itching to any of these methods, immediately wash it off with cold water. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with them, and take medications with their consent.

Thank you.
