Kindly advise.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

I have reviewed your pictures (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). Based on your description and pictures, you have PIH (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation) or melasma.

Melasma is an acquired pigmentation in sun-exposed areas. Areas that receive excessive sun exposure, including the cheeks, the upper lip, the chin, and the forehead, are the most common locations. Melasma can be difficult to treat. The pigment of melasma develops gradually, and resolution is also gradual.

I suggest the below general measures:

  • Avoid direct sunlight.
  • Use a broad-brimmed hat if you go out in the sun.
  • Use skin lightening cream like Clearz cream (Kojic Acid and Vitamin C) during night hours.
  • Use broad-spectrum physical sunscreen during day time and repeat every four hours.
  • Other treatment options include Glycolic acid chemical peel and Nd YAG LASER with variable results.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
