Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am worried about my health as I missed my periods for one month, and in the next month, I experienced continuous bleeding for almost two weeks. Initially, I thought it might be regular menstrual flow, but the flow was not consistent in the first week. Despite taking a pregnancy test three times, the results were negative. I work long hours, around 12 hours a day, and my sleep cycle is limited to 6-7 hours a day. Although I have experienced missed periods before, this prolonged bleeding is a new occurrence for me. Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The prolonged bleeding you are experiencing could be due to hormonal imbalance, adenomyosis, or polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). Symptoms of PCOS include weight gain, acne on the face, and excessive hair growth.

To pinpoint the exact cause, I suggest you do the following tests:

  1. Complete blood count (CBC).
  2. Ultrasound of your lower abdomen.
  3. Serum TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone).

In the meantime, I suggets you take the following medications to help stop the bleeding:

  1. Take tablet Trenaxae-MF (Tranexamic acid) twice a day for three days.
  2. Take tablet Folvite 5mg (Vitamin supplement) twice a day for 7 days.

Consult your specialist doctor, talk to them, and then take the medications as per their advice. Once the test results are available, we can discuss a treatment plan based on the underlying cause.

If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to ask.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your response.

Is this something very serious?

Answered by Dr. Monica Mathur

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The persistent bleeding can potentially lead to anemia, resulting in symptoms like lethargy and fatigue. Also, it indicates a hormonal imbalance that needs correction if not improved with the prescribed medications. While awaiting the test reports, it is important not to become overly anxious. However, to prevent weakness, I suggest you start the following medications:

  1. Tab Folvite (Folic acid) 5 mg twice a day for 30 days.
  2. Cap Fefol-Z (Iron supplement) once a day for 10 days.

If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to ask.

Thank you.
