Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Every month, I have incredibly painful and heavy periods, I can scarcely move because of my cramps, and intercourse is always painful. Also, I am taking birth control pills.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

The condition explained by you is called Dysmenorrhea. However, I would like you to inform me if this discomfort has been there since you began having periods or whether it is a recent occurrence.

I would also like to know if your family has a history of unpleasant periods.

Several causes might cause severely painful periods, including endometriosis and uterine fibroids. The fact that you are already on birth control tablets should have helped. I also ask that you reveal the name of the drugs you're taking. I additionally recommend that you consult a local doctor for a check-up because your periods have always been uncomfortable.

I recommend the following approaches for pain relief:

Hot water bath with a hot water pack kept at the pelvic region

Taking multivitamins, getting enough exercise, and eating light meals

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.

Regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
