Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 23-year-old female and just had my second miscarriage after one and half months of gestation. I checked for torch infection, and reports showed HSV 1 and 2; antibody reactive was 14 AU /mL.

What will I do now?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

I have seen your report (attachment removed to protect patient's identity) and it shows HSV 1 and 2 antibodies IgG reactive. So it means you are immune to it. Either you received the vaccine or had an infection in the past, which is why the body developed immunity and shows IgG positive.

If IgM is positive, you have a recent or active infection. And your reports do not show positive for any IgM.

  • Be positive and take precautions.
  • Start Folic Acid 5 mg daily, which will help in normal brain growth.
  • Have a healthy, nutritious diet and walk or exercise daily to have a normal BMI (body mass index), as a low or high BMI can cause miscarriage.
  • Try to have the full treatment and ask your husband if you both have a problem.
  • Have recreational activities for mental wellness.
  • Have sex in the fertile period of the cycle, as you have not mentioned your gynecological, medical and drug history. If cycles are irregular, then take oral contraceptive pills for two to three months and then you can start trying after quitting tablets. But if you do not want to wait, do not take contraceptive pills and have sex from day eight to day 19 of a cycle on alternate days.

I hope things will be better.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
