What could be the reason for the recurrence of bleeding after medical abortion?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had a miscarriage two weeks ago. I have been on medications Supracal 2000, Polybion, Taxim-O, Upan, and Zerodol and got the scanning done, the reports were good, and the bleeding had stopped. But in the last few days, I have been bleeding and developed backache and cramps. So what could be the reason?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

I understand your concern.

Irregular bleeding and spotting are common after abortion, particularly after medical abortion. So there is nothing to worry about. Also, you can take one tablet of Texakind MF (Tranexamic acid and Mefenamic acid) as and when required in case of excessive pain and bleeding, as it will help in controlling the pain and the bleeding.

Kindly consult a specialist, talk to them and take the medications with their consent.

Also, as your ultrasound is normal, nothing else has to be done.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
